| Assessment Fee | |
| Question: | What do I have to do to get my assessment fee back? |
| Answer: | In order to get your assessment fee back, you must work at least 4 hours of time at the complex. The acceptable work items are either field work, concession stand duty, or being a manager of a team. (Note: Only the manager is eligible for this, not a coach) When you work your time it is your responsibility to make sure you sign the book that will be used to determine who has fulfilled this requirement. This will be updated by 5:00 pm during the week and at least 1/2 hour before game time on the weekend with the status. | Players | |
| Question: | What is the requirement for each player? |
| Answer: | The TONLL requires that each player plays a minimum of 3 innings per game for the Minor and above divisions. For TBall and Instructional it is two innings. For games shortened due to darkness, weather, or 10 run rule the player who has not fulfilled the 3 innings should start the next game. However, if the player is not there at the start of the next game they are not entitled to start the next game they are at. Each player must also play a minimum of 3 full games each season unless there is an attendance problem. Any situation should be brought to the attention of the division commissioner as soon as possible. We cannot fix a problem at the end of the season. |
| Question: | What happens if a player gets ejected from a game? |
| Answer: | When this unfortunate act occurs, the player is to leave the dugout and sit in the stands if the players parents are not around. The player can leave the complex only if their parents or guardian is in attendance at the game. The player is also automatically suspended from the next game. For more serious infractions, the player and their parents may be brought in front of the Executive Board for further actions to be taken. These actions could range from suspension from more games to expulsion from the league. No refund will be given for someone who is expelled from the league. |
| Manager / Coaches | |
| Question: | How does someone become a manager or coach? |
| Answer: | In order to become a manager or coach, you must submit your name to the Board of Directors. You can send an email to tonllpresident@hvc.rr.com and/or tonllplayeragent@hvc.rr.com. Also at the time of registration there is a book that you can add your name to. Whenever you submit the information be sure to include your child's name. A background check is performed on anyone who volunteers in the league |
| Question: | What is a background check? |
| Answer: | This has been mandated by Little League HQ. All persons who volunteer in the league - Board Members, managers, coaches, umpires - must have a background check done. The President of the local league does a search to insure the volunteer is safe to work with children. If a discrepancy is found, the person will be contacted to discuss the issue. Only the President keeps the records of background checks. At the end of the year, all records are destroyed. A background check is required each year. |
| Question: | How are managers and coaches picked? |
| Answer: | First of all, there is no "grandfather" clause. While it is true that most managers continue in that capacity each year, there is no guarantee that will happen. |
| Town of Newburgh Little League General Questions | |
| Question: | How is the Town of Newburgh Little League Organized? |
| Answer: | The Town of Newburgh Little League is comprised solely of volunteers (no paid staff). We are not associated with the Town of Newburgh Recreation Department. We own the property that our fields are on and we maintain them ourselves. This differs from the other youth organizations which do have full time and/or part time employees administering their programs or maintaining the fields. We will always welcome parent participation and assistance in maintaining and running the league. |
| Question: | How can a parent influence the direction of the league? |
| Answer: | Become a member of our Board of Directors. If you would like to become a member you can send an e-mail to tonllpresident@hvc.rr.com or see one of the board members at the complex during the games. We need more board members to help us administer this league. You will be required to spend time at the complex and at meetings in order to be a board member. It is a big commitment and not something to be taken lightly |
| Question: | What is the "10 run rule"? |
| Answer: | This rule occurs when a team is ahead of another team by 10 or more runs at the end of a regulation game. It is in effect for the Minor and above divisions.
